Phoenicians, Greeks, Byzantines, (Fake Face would be proud) and Romans alike have all, at one point in history or another, conquered the Mediteraniean. But the Mediteraniean diet and dishes have been conquered and perfected in Brooklyn. Our 3rd Installment of NYCTR Food Review is based on Roka, the Modern Mediterranean eaterie. Opened sometime in early 2022, this food spot has been on it’s game ever since!
Roka is located in the heart of Williamsburg (349 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211.) Not far off from I-278 (If traveling by motor vehicle is to your convenience), the Williamsburg Bridge, or, if travel by subway is best, the L train to Bedford Avenue stop, or the J and M trains to Hewes St stop.
Once there, the cozy ambiance of the cross streets and the seating arrangement emphasizes the view outside. It automatically gives one the sense of being in ‘Brooklyn, New York’ without a doubt. The food and the variety of topping combinations are all the flavors that the Mediterranean has to offer and then some. All directly to one’s taste buds and nostrils. As a vegan-conscious food critic, this is a place where you wouldn’t have to worry about what’s on your plate. Why? They prepare your meal right in front of you.
Personally, the last two trips to this food spot, always out of spontaneity, provides us with enough notion of what to expect each and every time: deliciousness! The falafel additives, with olive oil, sauces, spices, various other greens, and veggies as options will leave your stomach completely satisfied.
Our NYCTR rating is a 5 out of 5, for all the reasons listed above. Also because their meal choices are worth it’s weight in gold and denarius, (although we pay electronically nowadays, for the most part.) But don’t take our word for it, find out yourself!
